9. The Snake Part Is Just a Myth
The story about Saint Patrick driving all the snakes off the island is nothing but a myth. No snakes are found in Ireland today, but that’s just because they never existed in the first place. Since Ireland is surrounded by icy cold oceans, no snakes could’ve made their way to the island. Although historians argue that since the snake always symbolized evil, it might be possible that by banishing snakes it was meant that Saint Patrick banished all evil ways of the pagan religion and brought light to the island in the form of Christianity.
