Take Breaks

Driving for hours and hours on end can really take a toll on your body in a variety of ways. It’s important to take breaks every once in a while. Of course, the obvious reason to take breaks is if you’re tired. Another reason you should take breaks often is to avoid sitting for too long. It might not seem like a big deal, but sitting down for a long time can actually negatively affect your health. You burn fewer calories when sitting and your muscles and bones can weaken over time. The health changes that occur from sitting too long can even lead to problems like obesity, diabetes, and even cancer. Taking breaks to stretch your legs every once in a while, will be very beneficial to you.

Be Cautious around Semis

Anyone who’s driven on the freeway knows that semi-trucks are common and a little intimidating to drive around. Most people do their best to overtake the trucks and move past them. Driving for long stretches of time can make you tired which will in turn impair your driving ability and reaction time. In order to stay safe while driving, you need to stay alert. It might be helpful to bring along a passenger who can talk to you, navigate, or take over driving. Listening to some music or the radio can also help you to stay awake. You shouldn’t begin driving if you are already tired. Make sure you get plenty of sleep the night before you begin traveling.
